The Automation Engineer is responsible for the maintenance of all electrical equipment and systems as directed by the Chief Electrical Engineer to ensure safe operation, environmental protection and passenger comfort.
Responsible for the maintenance and repair of electrical systems onboard as directed by the Chief Electrical Engineer.
Main areas of responsibilities are the maintenance and repair of:
Machinery Automation Control and Monitoring System
Maneuvering Control System
To be familiar with the Chief Electrical Engineer's duties and responsible and be prepared to be in charge of the Electrical Department without advance notice.
Must have a good knowledge of all electrical systems onboard.
Responsible for reporting any concerns with the electrical systems to the Chief Electrical Engineer.
Must have initiative, be proficient in electrical trouble shooting, solve electrical problems and work independently.
May be part of an on-call duty system on a rotational basis.
Must be familiar with the safety routines and ensure that the necessary safeguards are in place before any maintenance/repair work commences.
Must be familiar with the Safety Management System including applicable responsibilities in the Safety Organization according to the Emergency Plan and Station Bill. Performs other related duties as assigned or as directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Must be familiar with the Safety and Environmental Protection Policy and the SEMS, and carry out the policies and procedures appropriate for his/her position.
